How do I reactivate a paused webhook subscription?
Reactivate stale webhooks after a circuit breaker pause.
When the circuit breaker trips, your webhook's status changes to stale and delivery stops. To reactivate it:
- Identify and fix the root cause. Review delivery logs and metrics via GET /v2/notifications/webhooks/<webhook_id>/logs to understand why deliveries were failing.
- Call the activate endpoint: POST /v2/notifications/webhooks/<webhook_id>/activate. This resumes delivery immediately.
- Replay any events that queued in the DLQ while the webhook was paused: POST /v2/notifications/webhooks/<webhook_id>/replay.
- Monitor delivery closely for the first 15 minutes after reactivation. If the root cause was not resolved, the circuit breaker may trip again.
Catena does not auto-reactivate paused webhooks. Subscribe to the webhook.staled event to receive a notification as soon as the circuit breaker trips, so you can respond quickly.
Note: Events that occurred after the circuit breaker paused the webhook are not stored in the DLQ. Only events that failed delivery while the webhook was still active can be replayed.
