Which ELD providers require pass-through charges, and what does that mean?

Understand ELD provider pass-through fees and agreement requirements.

A small number of ELD providers charge a data pass-through fee, typically around $1 to $3 per truck per month, to allow third parties to access their data. These fees are charged by the ELD provider directly and are not controlled by Catena.

The providers currently identified as requiring pass-through charges or three-way agreements are:

  • PeopleNet / Trimble
  • Omnitracs
  • Orbcomm
  • Skybitz (trailer-only provider)

Carriers using these providers can still appear in the Catena Connect onboarding flow, but depending on your commercial arrangement and how your integration is configured, data access for these carriers may not be fully operational. If your platform relies on data from carriers using these providers, contact your Catena account team to discuss the commercial and operational steps needed.

Note: Trimble also requires a separate data-sharing agreement between Trimble and Catena before any connection can be established. See this article.
