Does Catena have a test environment or ELD simulator?
Test onboarding, webhooks, and data pipelines with Catena’s built-in simulator and sandbox fleet.
Yes. Catena provides two testing options that are available on your account:
- Catena ELD Simulator: a simulated TSP that appears in the Catena Connect onboarding flow under the name "Catena ELD Simulator." Your carriers (or your own test flows) can select it and connect using an API key provided by Catena. It generates synthetic vehicle pings so you can test the full onboarding flow and webhook pipeline without needing a real ELD. The simulator can be used in both sandbox and production environments without cross-contamination.
- Sandbox fleet: a pre-configured fleet on your account that uses real, anonymized telematics data with a slight delay. It allows you to test your data pipelines and API queries without sending invitations to real carriers.

Note: The ELD simulator is useful for testing the onboarding webhook sequence (invitation.created through fleet_connection.created) and verifying that your data pipeline handles incoming events correctly before go-live.
